Analysis of 3 Key Matchups

by Bucs
DE Gaines Adams Vs. LT Alex Barron
Barron did a solid job of protecting Marc Bulger’s blind side on Sunday afternoon.  While the Bucs put a lot of pressure on Bulger, and even forced a sack at the end of the game, the majority of the pressure came from the LDE spot and the DT spots.  Gaines Adams had a key stop on a running play where he beat Barron around the endge, but all in all, Barron had a real solid performance.
WR Joey Galloway Vs. CB Ronald Bartell
Joey Galloway was the target of Jeff Garcia on 7 different plays on Sunday.  Bartell really had no chance of thwarting any of the Galloway’s 4 receptions for 45 yards.  The speed with which Galloway presented was tough for Bartell and RCB2 Lenny Walls to handle.  The passing stats do not look gaudy for the Bucs, but we seemingly moved the ball at will and quite efficiently throughout the game.  The Bucs had 22 first downs, and averaged almost 6 yards a play.
LT Luke Petigout Vs. RDE Leonard Little
Little did contribute 4 tackles during the game, but produced no sacks.  I remember sitting in my seats and on a few occasions, wondering if he was even on the field.  Petigout seems to be a nice addition to the Bucs up to this point, and barring health issues, should be a key contributor to the Bucs success.
