No to Ocho Cinco?

The Bucs Beat, a Tampa Bay Buccaneers blog for the St Petersburg Times, assumes that the Bucs will have no interest in Chad Johnson of the Cincinnatti Bengals.  He argues that because of the Bucs past with mercurial players, that we would steer clear of Chad.

I tend to disagree though.  Johnson has been known to be one of the hardest working players in the league.  Getting to the field and practice early, and being known for staying late to work with QB Carson Palmer ala, Marvin and Peyton.  If Gruden, who is famous for his passion and dedication to the game is not interested in a player like this, I’m not sure what receivers he would have interest in.
YEAR G REC YARDS  AVG.   LNG.   TD’S
 2002  16  69  1166 16.9   72  5
 2003  16  90  1355 15.1  82  10
 2004  16  95  1274 13.4   53  9
 2005  16  97  1432 14.8  70  9
 2006  16  87  1369 15.7   74  7
 2007  16  93  1440 15.5  70  8
Since 2002, his first year as a starter, Number 85 has averaged 88.5 receptions, 1,111 yards, and 8 TD’s a year.  For a team looking for a playmaker, these numbers would be ignorant to ignore.
