In one of those strange twists that can only happen in the NFL offseason, free agent CB Asante Samuel‘s agent is openly pining for the Bucs to make an offer.
“Tampa Bay is a situation that makes sense,” said Alonzo Shavers, Samuel’s agent. “Tampa Bay is definitely worth considering. It was an organization that was in the Super Bowl not too long ago. It is an organization Asante wants to play for. It’s definitely something that makes perfect sense for everybody.”
Shaver also claimed the Tampa Bay was high on a very short list of teams they are interested in.
Everyone might automatically assume that Samuel is more of a man coverage CB, and might struggle in the Tampa 2 system. I call bullshit. Any guy who has the ball skills that he has, has the chance to excel defensively for whatever team he plays for. Let us not forget either that two years ago he had 64 tackles.
