Ex-Buc Tasered In Pensacola

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

This story is too funny, so I felt obligated to pass it along to you guys. Former Buccaneers LB Keith McCants was arrested (again) and tasered by Prichard City Police for allegedly loitering in a business parking lot on Highway 45 Friday night, along with two women who were attempting to flag down motorists.  When police confronted McCants he became hostile and refused to drop a screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a crack pipe. He then supposedly threw the items, almost hitting an officer in the head.

***From Buccaneers.com – Buccaneers Ryan Nece and Shelton Quarles are once again gearing up for a very special Mother’s Day this year. The Buccaneer duo is looking to recognize deserving mothers from around the bay area at their annual “Best Moms in the Bay Dinner,” and they need your help! Anyone who knows an exceptional mother is encouraged to nominate her for “Best Mom” honors in 250 words or less. Nece and Quarles will evaluate all entries and invite their top 25 selections to a special dinner at One Buccaneer Place.

Bucs Will Vote Against Seeding Change

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and GM Bruce Allen have stated unequivocally that they will vote against a rule change that would have the 3rd-6th seeds seeded based on overall record. I would imagine a tiebreaker record wise would automatically go to a division winner. Based on last year’s records we would have had to go on the road to play the Giants in the Meadowloands in round 1 as the 5th seed.

“It’s a strange time to make this proposal,” Bruce Allen said. “Two of the last three Super Bowl winners (the Steelers and Giants) have (gotten there) [...]

Lots Of Love For Mr. Gruden

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ben Troupe on coming to Tampa, and Head Coach Jon Gruden.
“It starts with the head coach,” Troupe said with a charismatic smile on his face. “Jon Gruden is the leader of this team and the energy that he brings as a head coach is contagious. His reputation throughout the league speaks for itself. He’s well respected, and he said, ‘Ben, we’re going to go out and work and fight to the finish. We may lose, but we’re going to play the same every game.’ That’s how I play. I play the same on every down. Whether we are winning the [...]

Kevin Carter Stays In Tampa

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

DE Kevin Carter, after apparently turning down two more lucrative offers from the Raiders and another unnamed team, is returning to the Bucs on a one year deal .

“He’s never been happier playing football,” Lewis, Carter’s agent said. “He loves playing with Jon (Gruden), he loves the organization and he feels like he’s started something there that he wants to finish…He could have made substantially more. And 99 out of 100 times, the player is going to (choose) whoever gives him the best deal. But very few people have a chance to write their own endings. He’ll have a chance [...]

Quote Of The Day

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

“Coming from a winning tradition with the Patriots, Eugene felt he wouldn’t be losing a step toward his ultimate goal, which is to win a Super Bowl, by signing with the Bucs…Tampa Bay is a first-class organization, and they came at us first. We probably should have just stopped the whole process right there and signed with them, but we had to listen and see what was out there…Monte Kiffin is one of the best defensive coaches around…And Eugene thinks Jon Gruden is a hell of a coach and he believes secondary coach Raheem Morris is one of [...]

Bucs Continue To Fill Needs

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

This week, the Buccaneers picked up WR Antonio Bryant, DB Eugene Wilson, and DE Marques Douglas.

Antonio Bryant – Has an impressive 15.3 career ypc.  Had his best season in ‘05 with Cleveland (1k yards, 69 catches, and 4 td’s).  Should compete with Michael Clayton, and Maurice Stovall for the Y receiver slot opposite Joey Galloway with veteran Ike Hilliard holding down the Z spot in the slot.
Eugene Wilson – My favorite acquisition of the offseason thus far.  In 62 career games, he has 254 tackles, 28 passes defended and 10 picks.  He was a starter for 3 years in New [...]

We Can Not Keep 60 Guys…Can We?

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Bucs currently have 67 players under contract.  The following is an attempted breakdown of how the hell we get down to a 53 man roster.
35= Players who are almost gauranteed to make team
10= Players who seemed destined to meet the Turk or to be on the Practice Squad
21= Guys who are battling for roster spots
1= Looks like PUP or IR
9= Sorry, just missed it
I’m basing this under the presumption that we are going to bring back Kevin Carter, and Utility Lineman Matt Lehr.  That leaves us currently with 37 players under contract who are gauranteed to make [...]

My Man…Mr. Warrick Dunn

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Monday afternoon, the Bucs inked 12th year RB Warrick Dunn, fomerly of the Bucs and Falconsto a deal.  As is team policy, details of the contract were not revealed.

Dunn was an unfortunate casualty of the McKay regime.  When Gruden first arrived in Tampa, we were unable to retain the unrestricted free agent due to our cap having been “McKayed.”  Bruce Allen, as we all know though, has handled the cap to perfection to the point where we are able to go after players like Dunn who fit the scheme and should produce.

Nobody is confusing Dunn with the 4th leading rusher in [...]
