“It’s a long progress, but I’ve come a long way,” he said. “Earlier on, there were bumps in the road. But now, things are starting to smooth out. I’m starting to do things on the field, a little cutting here and there. I’m just taking it day by day, just continuing to work and seeing how the process goes. We’re going to make a decision in July and take it from there.”

An Update On The Caddy
BJ Askew Gets An Extension
Scout.com is reporting that a league source has informed them that the Bucs have given FB BJ Askew a contract extension that “will make him one of the top three players at his position in both signing bonus money and in average compensation per year.”
Great news in my opinion. BJ Askew is one of the best blocking FB’s in the league. He is a do it all kind of guy for HC Jon Gruden; blocking, the occasional run, and catching the football.
While Askew is not admired and deified around the Bay Area like former Bucs great Mike Alstott, I think he brings [...]
Dunn To Have Big Role
Warrick Dunn did not come to Tampa to be a third down back.
“I would never consider myself a third-down back. It’s not my mentality. I don’t play the game that way,” he said. “I don’t think Coach Jon Gruden brought me here just to play on third down. He believes in me, and I just have to go out and prove it.”
Coach Jon Gruden makes no bones whatsoever about his desire for playmakers all over the field. Although Ernest Graham was stellar in Cadillac’s absence, he still lacks that big play ability that apparently Gruden still thinks that Warrick Dunn [...]
With the new revelations that Jeff Garcia might threaten a holdout due to his unhappiness with his contract, I have two prevailing emotions: one find that little bastard and duel it out, or tell his tiny ass to sit out if he so pleases. We saw how well that worked out for Keenan McCardell.
Garcia signed a 2 year 7 million dollar contract before last freaking season for god sake, and he knew coming in that he would be the starter. He did not think that he was coming here to backup, so accepting below pay grade for a starting QB would [...]
Great Letter To MMQB
This entire excerpt is taken from Peter King’s MMQB Mailbag.
SHED NO TEARS FOR CHRIS SIMMS. From Steve Stone, of Tampa: “Please don’t go out and buy a hallmark card for Chris Simms. In your MMQB article, you imply that the Bucs are doing an injustice to Simms by holding on to him and should put him out of his misery by releasing him. The local media in Tampa are hammering the Bucs and also share the same sentiment. I have a problem with this.
“The Bucs last year went out on the limb and committed millions of dollars to Simms at [...]
Pewter Report is stating that according to their sources, that the Bucs are not interested in signing former Bengals receiver Chris Henry. Henry is an explosive playmaker and could probably be a great target for any teams QB, but the Bucs have been making a point of not signing any turds, and this falls right in line with that practice.
Former Georgia Tech and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Joe Hamilton was charged with marijuana possession, driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run early Tuesday, less than a week after he was hired as the school’s assistant director of player personnel.
Not really the way to step into a new job if ask you me!!
I was in Monks Corner, South Carolina earlier this year (the hometown of Joe Hamilton) and this man is revered there. Probably will not go over too well with the locals either.
Quotes From Rookie Camp
Jon Gruden on rookie LB Geno Hayes
“He has athletic ability,” Gruden said. “He’s what’s advertised. He’s going to be a good contact player, I think, when we start putting pads on. He’s instinctive, he has good functional speed and he appears natural. He appears comfortable in this defense, and we’re excited about that.”
Jon Gruden on rookie DT Dre’ Moore
“He’s an explosive big man,” Gruden said. “I think he’ll be the first to tell you his stamina is going to be an issue. He’s got to get in much better condition, and that’s why we have that factory over there, that [...]
