Tuesday Camp Tidbits From Orlando

  • Lee Roy Selmon visited the Bucs Wednesday morning practice session
  • “It brought back a lot of fond memories,” said Selmon. “They were excited about it. It just kind of loosened some things up. Coach Gruden and coach Kiffin said ‘hey we have to do the Oklahoma drill.’ So it was fun just to watch them. They hooped it up and had a good time I thought.”
  • Speaking of the Oklahoma drill, DE Kevin Carter was the only player to make a tackle, drawing a big reaction from his defensive breathren.
  • “That’s kind of been our history around here, to jazz it up when our Hall of Famer shows up, and that’s the way it should be,” Gruden said.
  • Ernest Graham was back at practice on Wednesday, after suffering an ankle injury.
  • Kevin Carter has apparently been begging for years to play on the offensive side of the ball, today he got his wish, lining up at TE in goal line drills
  • “I’ve been begging for about 14 years now to do something on offense or get in on goal line, so I guess Coach Gruden is finally the first coach to listen to me,” said Carter. “Coach Gruden approached me about it in the spring, but I asked him about it all last year. Hey, the more you can do it helps keep you around longer, right?”
  • Some updates from Bucsstats.com
  • Luke McCown was the #2 quarterback today.
  • Charles Bennett is back with the first team at left defensive end again. I’m guessing that the team feels that Bennett is ready to take his performance to the next level and are giving him time with the starters to work him into the regular rotation. This could make things interesting since the team will likely keep five defensive ends total.
  • Maurice Stovall was very impressive today, but he seems to be showboating quite a bit and trying to make every catch one-handed. But he and Michael Clayton are having consistently excellent practices day after day.
