The relationship between Jeff Garcia and Jon Gruden might be boiling to a head. It is being reported by several league sources that not only are the Bucs shopping Garcia, they might just release him outright. ProFootballTalk.com quotes an unnamed league source that says Gruden and Garcia are “ready to kill each other.”
I truly see this as no surprise. Jeff Garcia has whined his way out of 4 NFL cities, and we are apparently number 5. For those who read this website regularly, you know my feelings on this…GOOD FREAKING RIDDANCE. I have been tired of Garcia’s shenanigans since the offseason began. He signed a two year deal before last season, threw for 13 touchdowns, and then for some reason thought that he should be paid much more money.
I’m sure the lack of practice time, and subsequent absence from the 1st preseason game (some kind of college football reunion), along with his whining about his deal, and finally his shitty play this Sunday has pushed Gruden to the edge.
Gruden yesterday named Brian Griese the starter for this weekends game against the Falcons
“We’re going to start Brian Griese in the game,” coach Jon Gruden said. “I talked to Jeff and I talked to Brian. It’s just my opinion, and I talked a lot about it with our coaches — Jeff right now is just not himself. We’re going to give a week off and get him ready to go.”
What’s the matter with him? Is he crying a little less than normal, or throwing those 2 yard flares a little weaker than normal! Get rid of this guy. I truly think that both Brian Griese and Luke McCown give us a better chance at winning football games. The Patriots would certainly have to have some interest in Carmella. PFT also quotes that same unamed source as saying that we are willing to take whatever we can get for Garcia right now. So like I said, send him to the Pats for a 5th round pick and let’s move on with our football team and open this offense up a bit, as now we’ll have two QB’s with the ability to throw the ball more than 8 feet.
