Will Injuries Continue To Derail Our Season

Coupled with the loss to the Falcons on Sunday, which after the Cowboys/Giants game knocked us out of the playoffs, the Bucs had a few major injuries.

Jermaine Phillips broke his forearm and is out for the season.

Jeff Garcia, Jovan Haye, and Chris Hovan are all still listed as questionable on the injury report.

Derrick Brooks injured his ribs on Sunday and will also be listed as questionable.

Gaines Adams will also be listed on the injury report with a hip-pointer.

Our starting defensive line could be starting 3 different guys than are currently listed as tops on the depth chart.  One starting linebacker could be out, and one starting safety will be out.  That is 5 starters that could miss this weekends game vs the Chargers.  With the way the defense has played the last two weeks, this is not good news.

“The injuries are mounting to say the least,’’ Jon Gruden said. “Let’s be honest—that’s the No. 1 concern.’’

The only silver lining to all of this, is the Bucs still control their own playoff destiny.  We win on Sunday and then against the Raiders at home, and we clinch at least a wild card berth.  We still aren’t out of the running for the division either.  A win by the Panthers next week would take us out of the running for the division championship.
