What is the Worst Man Drafted (WMD) Tournament? To celebrate March Madness, theFanSided.com sports network compiled a field of the 64 worst NFL Draft busts of all time. A blogger from each NFL team nominated their team’s worst two draft picks of all time. 32 teams x 2 = 64. After we had our field of 64, the staff here at NFL Mocks did some serious NCAA-style research to seed the field. The Tournament is officially being hosted on NFL Mocks.
I nominated the two players from the Bucs who are currently in the tournament, Charles McRae and Keith McCants.
McRae – Picked with the seventh overall selection in the 1991 draft and the first offensive player chosen, Charles was simply too nice a guy to play tackle in the NFL and after some limited success at guard, left the Bucs after the 1995 season for an equally-forgettable time with the Raiders. Still keeps in touch with Phil and is now a happy family man back home in Tennessee. Was honoured by the Tennessee Volunteers before a game in 2003. – from Bucpower.com
McCants – One of the greatest busts in Buc draft history. Selected with the fourth overall selection of the 1990 draft, the very next pick was perennial All-Pro Junior Seau. McCants was incapabale of playing linebacker in the NFL and was converted to defensive end for the 1991 season. Two non-descript seasons on the line followed and he was cut before playing in his fourth season. – from Bucpower.com
