Yahoo Sports yesterday, published a report that the Buccaneers were one of two teams to contact Plaxico Burress this week. The Yahoo report describes the phone call as exploratory and was mainly to “check on Burress’ well being.” The checking in on his well being part is quite laughable, but we’ll for this excercise take the phone call as a serious inquiry into signing Burress.
First and foremost, the legal issues that Plaxico faces from gun charges in NY are the most important factor in any team signing him, the Bucs or anyone else for that matter. I have read [...]

Should The Bucs Look At Plaxico
Is An OTA No-Show A Big Deal?
I have heard through the grapevine (as I am in Connecticut) that talk radio and some local media members in Tampa are a little perturbed by the fact that newly signed TE Kellen Winslow was a no-show for the teams first OTA. He apparently was in the process of ”moving” his stuff from his old home to his new home.
While this might seem ridiculous to some people, there is a chance that this excuse was a valid one and the new regime didn’t have an issue with it.
I don’t neccesarily have an issue with the actual excuse itself, [...]
Pick-A-Seat Day Makes Me Cry
Once upon a time, the Buccaneers were an up and coming franchise, with a brand new stadium and an ungodly waiting list to get season tickets. Many people throughout the years have disputed the actual number the Buccaneers always put out as far as how many people were on the waiting list, but regardless, it was long. At some points it may have been as long as 100,000 people.
I know personally, because before I acquired my own season tickets, me and a friend had put our name on the waiting list, and didn’t receive a call back about getting [...]
I was of the school of thought come draft day that the Bucs would be best served by upgrading the defensive tackle position. It is something that they did target in the third round with Roy Miller out of Texas, but it appears that one of last years picks, 4th rounder Dre Moore, could have been the reason they weren’t so eager to take a DT at the top of the draft.
Moore came into camp last season overweight, and never dressed, spending the whole year on the practice squad. It seems as though he has a new mindset this [...]
Raheem Morris on Josh Freeman
“an athletic, big, giant human that’s walking the planet and I’m glad he’s on our team.”
“Josh, he went out there today and took control of the huddle,” said Morris. “I don’t believe he had one bad snap besides the guard tripping him earlier in the walk-through. Other than that, he got every snap, delivered the football, controlled the huddle well, made some nice throws, did some things we liked today. It was pretty exciting.”
Raheem Morris on 3rd round pick Roy Miller
“He’s more of a run-stopper but had five-and-a-half sacks [at Texas]. He’s an awfully strong young [...]
Former 3rd round pick Alex Smith has been traded to the Patriots for an undisclosed draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. I’ve checked multiple outlets to try and determine the pick that is being sent to the Bucs, but knowing the Pats, I would imagine it is a performance based pick that is around the 4th-6th round region.
Smith was the 7th pick in the third round by the Bucs in the 2005 draft. He showed some promise in his rookie season catching 41 balls for 367 yards. He was a consistent player for the Bucs but became expendable [...]
