I’m somewhat anti-Freeman, in that I don’t think he’s ready for the NFL at 21 with only three years of college behind him. If he’s well taught for the next couple of years, he may end up being the “franchise” quarterback the new coach loves to talk about. No, I wouldn’t have drafted him, I’d have waited for one of the big names in 2010 in case Luke doesn’t do the job–meanwhile, I’d stick with him, trade or dump Leftwich, and let Freeman carry the clipboard.

I of course was anti-Freeman Draft Day & thereafter but I have done a 180; he is what we have. He deserves the chance for some reps w/ the first stringers, it appears, plus we need to find out how he performs when the bullets start flying w/ pads & full contact.
The well-touted rookie QBs from 2008, Ryan & Flacco, benefited from a strong running game; I checked, & Balt. was #4 in the NFL in rushing last year, & Atl. was #2. How the O-line performs will determine a lot re how any of the QBs does in 2009, here, as well.
