Bucs Weekend Camp Updates

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet |

First off, some personal updates of mine that I tried to Tweet, but Twitter was having issues.

These are from Friday mornings practice, a nice overcast one at One Buc Place.

  • Quincy Black and Demar Dotson got into a little skirmish on the field.  Nothing big, just Dotson holding Black for no reason, and Quincy turning around and drilling him in the face mask.
  • In the individual 3 on 2 defensive line/offensive line drills, Quincy Black repeatedly is making nice moves (a bevy of them) to get to the yellow flag
  • Davin Joseph pancakes people in this same drill like it is going out of style.  He will establish himself as the best RG in the league this year.
  • Jarrett Buie has some nice moves in the aforementioned drill.  He really shined in this drill.  Swim, stunt, whatever the task, he was collapsing the backup Oline.
  • Speaking of the backup Oline, they looked horrid against every set of defender in the individual drills.

Some quotes from Week 1 of Camp

“I think every step we have taken this week has been forward,” who also came away pleased with the way his alternating one-a-day/two-a-day practice schedule has worked. “I think every stride we have made so far has been a positive one. We are going to have a step back. It is coming, I just don’t know when. None of us do, but that is when the mental toughness has to kick in with your team and hopefully what you preach every day kicks in and somebody brings us out.”

That’s the beauty of training camp being physical – you get the nicks and the bruises and what’s the difference between that and the season?” said Morris. “We have it all the time on Wednesdays and Thursdays and we feel like, ‘Wow, that guy’s not going to play,’ and then on Sunday they’re up and running. So that’s the beauty of training camp, starting to learn that process as well, getting these guys nicked up and bruised a little bit and then being happy and excited about those guys coming back.”

  • Everyone who was hurt in Week 1 of practice should be back starting Monday.  Michael Clayton, Jeff Faine, Clifton Smith, Jeremy Trueblood and Angelo Crowell.
