This Really Happened

Analysis from Sunday’s game=We’re awful, Saints good.  Thanks, I’m here all day.

To the real issue here….

This is my third attempt today to put down something cohesive and logical that wasn’t just a rambling, profanity filled diatribe.  As all Bucs fan know as of this point (this obviously is not breaking news) the Bucs have demoted Defensive Coordinator Jim Bates to a consulting role.

That means that in less than 3 months, Raheem Morris has fired the two guys that HE HIRED to run both his offensive and defensive units.  This was not a situation like Eric Mangini in New York or Lane Kiffin in Oakland where the management and ownership required the new coach to use the old coordinators that were previously in place, HE HIRED THESE FREAKING GUYS.

While there is no doubt that the defensive performance put forth by the Buccaneers this year is unacceptable at best (31st in points allowed, 27th in yards allowed, last in the league in rushing yards allowed), RAHEEM MORRIS HIRED THIS GUY TO RUN HIS DEFENSE.  Only making matters more hilarious, if you think that ridiculousness is ultimately hilarious, HE NAMED HIMSELF the defensive coordinator (sorry for the sudden bursts of caps lock, but I found no other way to translate my personal screaming to myself into words other than caps lock).

So…timeline…Raheem gets promoted to DC in Tampa–>Raheem interviews for Denver HC job–>Glazers overreact to interview, fire good coach, bring in bad coach, Raheem–>Raheem brings in his own staff–>Raheem fires OC 11 days before start of season–>Bucs suck–>Raheem fires DC after week 10 loss, worst loss in home history for the Bucs.  HMMMMMMMMM.  I’m seeing a common demoninator here that is being overlooked, HELLO, RAHEEM MORRIS.

I’m real fed up as a fan right now.  I have no other way to put into words the way that I feel about this regime that runs this team.   There is a lack of accountability at the top of the food chain, because if there was, Raheem would have fired himself already.  He can say all the things that he wants to about the coaching staff, and about how they need to step up as well, but unless he fires himself and not everyone else around him, he is not truly being accountable.

Maybe though, just maybe, Heem finally is in the role he should have had the entire time, the DC role.  Maybe our defense will improve.  Maybe I won’t have to see my HC jumping up and down like an asshole every time a good play gets made.  Maybe I can see a team not run for 150 yards on us.  Maybe we will win a game.  Maybe I’ll spend 1k again on my tickets next year.   Maybe.   Probably not.

A great line to leave you with from our well spoken head coach and a hilarious line from Profootballtalk.com that pretty much sums up what I said a minute ago…

Everything we do around here is based on progress,” Morris said, via PewterReport.com.  “Right now we feel like we’re in a position to make progress and move on.  That’s the thought process and that’s what we’re doing.”

(Under that thought process, then, the Bucs would be making progress by firing Morris and hiring a more accomplished head coach, right?)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I love placing sports bets online. Unfortunately, I'm down since I started my online gambling journey but I've been on the upswing. Here is one thing I have learnt in my online sports betting experiences. Do your research! Find out whos injured, not 100% healthy, home team, away team, etc. Once you know EVERYTHING about the sports match place a bet!

Well, not to be argumentative, but if the "one [good] draft pick" turns out to be a franchise quarterback, that garners a year's grace in my book. The Cowboys went 1-15 in Jimmy Johnson & Troy Aikman's 1st year IIRC. But, we shall see.You are more entitled to an opinion because you put your money where your mouth is, & I do not.

I don't think because he made one draft pick you hold off on firing a guy who looks in over his head still after 11 weeks. I think that would be silly.

OTOH--if Freeman continues to progress (hey, Dustin, we may have been wrong about him!!)the Nerds would look like colossal ingrates if they can Raheem; NTM he did what they wanted in getting a young QB to develop, rather than a position player.

Talk of the Buccaneers giving head coach Raheem Morris another offseason to turn the team around is fading fast, as his latest bold decision was another admission of failure in a season marked with disappointment. Morris seized defensive coordinator duties from Jim Bates on Nov. 24 and demoted Bates to what is being described as an advisory role, although it's not clear just what kind of involvement or authority, if any, Bates will have for the rest of his time with the organization.

Word is the team's ownership has been embarrassed by Morris' handling of the club and its performance this year, and his decision to take over the defense may have been an indication that Morris is beginning to realize what his fate will be if he doesn't show dramatic improvement as a coach in the final stretch of the season. Morris opted to respond by taking more ownership of his failure.

I didn't even want to make a comment about that, but that is my worst nightmare about this point Mike.

Signing Olson to an extension leads me to think that Raheem will be around in 2010, at least at the start.
