There were a couple Buccaneers who at times this season, true the disdain of fans across Bucs nation. One of the prime targets of that disdain for me was SS Sabby Piscatelli. I have heard the guy is really nice, and in no way is this a cut at him personally, but his football skills are below average at best. Another guy who constantly made me angry this season was RT Jeremy Trueblood. This is another guy who I know firsthand is a very nice guy, but once again, this is not a cut at him personally. He is [...]

Two Bucs Are As Bad As They Seem
“I love great weather. I love football. It doesn’t matter where I play,” Wilfork told the Sun-Sentinel. “I just want to have security for my family. I would love to stay in New England if I had the chance. I love New England because of my teammates, my family. My son, the friends and connections we’ve made up there, it’s some great people up there. But if it doesn’t work out I’ll weigh my options I tell you that.”
Vince Wilfork in response to playing in Miami or Tampa:
“A dream come true.”
Wilfork coming to Tampa would be a dream come true [...]
The Bucs Need To Call The Jets
With the draft just about 3 months away, and the evaluation process for most teams underway, there are a lot of players with teams that probably will be released or traded in the offseason. Kerry Rhodes, the SS for the Jets could be one of those players.
While Eric Berry would be a great addition for the Bucs, would trading a 3rd round pick for Rhodes and taking a LT, DE, DT or CB players who generally influence the outcomes of games much more than SS’s at the 3 spot be a more prudent choice?
LT Russell Okung, DE Carlos Dunlap [...]
After agreeing to a 4 year deal worth 17 million dollars in the offseason, there were some big expectations for Derrick Ward and the Bucs running attack heading into the 2009 season.
“I think my style of running, my style of play will fit in perfect. We have all the key components for a great offense,” Ward said. “With the transactions they made this offseason, it only bolstered the offense, so I’m looking forward to great things.”
He couldn’t have been more off base. I’m fairly sure that Ward’s lack of effectiveness wasn’t directly attributable to only himself, but a fair share [...]
The Ny Times, citing a Reuters new report, states that Manchester United’s parent companies debt, reached over 716.5 million pounds (or 1.15 billion dollars).
The debt is mainly linked to high interest payments associated with the loans needed by the Glazers to originally acquire the soccer team in a hostile stock takeover.
There have also been reports recently that Man U would launch a 500 million pound high yield bond to help refinance the debt taken on by the Glazer’s in 2005.
When the Bucs signed Byron Leftwich this past offseason, I thought it was a solid move. I thought (and obviously thought incorrectly) that the Bucs would go into the season with Luke McCown as the QB, Leftwich as the backup and Josh Johnson as the third string QB. I’m dumb. The Bucs drafted “5″ traded Luke, and then named Leftwich the starter.
The reign of horror didn’t last long.
After 3 games and 3 losses, the Bucs went to Josh Johnson.
Byron was actually less awful statistically than he appeared to be while watching him on TV and @ Ray Jay. His first [...]
Heed Your Own Advice
I was just re-reading some old Buccaneers stuff today, and ran across this quote from Bryan Glazer. I wonder if they still feel this way after watching the stadium attendance dwindle this season, or is that uncapped year and the possibility of having no Head Coach under contract for the uncapped year the true motivating factor behind keeping a 3-13 coach.
“Our fans are our stockholders. They’re what we play for — the people in our stadium and the ones that watch on TV. That’s what it’s all about: winning and how they feel about the team. If they don’t feel good [...]
I didn’t personally understand why we signed this joker to an extension in the offseason, and the season he put forth doesn’t really change my mind much. We signed this guy to a 5 year deal worth 26 million dollars if he plays out the contract and before the deal was signed he had 205 receptions in 5 freaking years.
Clayton was one of the players that helped orchestrate Jon Gruden’s ouster from the Bucs by constantly whining that coach had a grudge against him. Well guess what, I have a grudge against him too, because he CAN’T FREAKING CATCH. [...]
After an 83 catch, 1248 yard season, that saw Antonio Bryant eventually franchise tagged, there were big expectations for Bryant coming into the 2009 season.
The problem for Bryant in 09 though, was that he could never get fully healthy. He was questionable for just about every game I can remember in the first half of the season, and even when he did get healthy, we didn’t have an offense capable of getting him the ball.
After 9 games in 2008 with 5+ catches, the most catches Bryant had in any game in 09 was 5. He did that 3 times. He [...]
The Bucs spent a 2nd round pick and a 5th round pick in the 2009 NFL draft in order to bring in Kellen Winslow Jr. After dealing those picks, the Bucs then made Winlow the highest paid TE in the league.
Even for a team who struggled through a miserable season, and didn’t have much success in any area on the field, Winslow shined. He was name the St Pete Times MVP of the team, would have been my MVP of the team, and if you watched any games, he was truly the only real offensive weapon we had [...]
