Bucs Player Grades - Michael Clayton

I didn’t personally understand why we signed this joker to an extension in the offseason, and the season he put forth doesn’t really change my mind much.   We signed this guy to a 5 year deal worth 26 million dollars if he plays out the contract and before the deal was signed he had 205 receptions in 5 freaking years.

Clayton was one of the players that helped orchestrate Jon Gruden’s ouster from the Bucs by constantly whining that coach had a grudge against him.  Well guess what, I have a grudge against him too, because he CAN’T FREAKING CATCH. I have never been so excited by one season by one player only to be ultimately let down.

I’ll give him this, he did have one good game this year, that has to be worth a few mil right?  Game 1, 5 catches for 93 yards.  After that, 6 one catch game, a 2 catch game and one 3 catch game, none of which went for more than 29 yards.  This guy was tied for 6th in the league in drops!!!! He played 9 games, caught 16 passes and was tied for 6th in the league in drops with 5!!! How hilarious is that?  Go away Michael Clayton.

Clayton finished the year with 9 starts (always hurt) for 16 catches, 230 yards and 1 TD.  That averages out to 1.7 catches per game for an average of  25 yards a game and .11 TD’s per game.  Go away Michael Clayton, no wonder Gruden had a grudge against you, you suck.
