Since it’s combine week, we figured we’d bring you Pewter Planks First Mock Draft of the offseason. The 2nd half of this first mock draft will be up at the start of next week. You can expect at least 3 more mocks from the Pewter Planks resident Draft Guru, John “Canseco” Crimmins. Enjoy.
1. St. Louis Rams – Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame – This is a QB driven league, the sports media has been driving this point home over and over since before the super bowl which featured the 2 best signal callers in the game. The Rams have spent [...]

Would Trading To 1 Be Worth It?
With multiple reports now surfacing that the Bucs are considering trading up to the number one spot, I figured I would give you my thoughts on the deal that is supposedly on the table.
Let me put this caveat in here before discussing. This time of year, there are all kinds of rumors that surface that might be posturing by teams or might be just totally unfounded. This could be a ploy by the Rams in order to get Michael Vick for a cheaper price from the Eagles. All I’m saying is that its just a rumor, so lets treat it [...]
With 10 picks in the upcoming draft, and one more season remaining on their contracts, GM Mark Dominik and HC Radio Morris are focused solely on the draft, as they should be. This years players drafted, and the development of last years players, will be the determining factor on whether or not they get their contracts renewed after 2011’s inevitable lockout.
“We’ve done a lot of things different not only in the last 12 months but maybe even in the last couple months in terms of how we look at the draft and the way we do things, the way we [...]
McShay Echoes My Sentiments
I have been preaching for a few weeks that I don’t think the Bucs will end up drafting S Eric Berry in the 2010 NFL Draft. With the antiquated system for paying rookies that currently exists, guys like Berry who are top 5 talent, fall out of those slots because of teams unwillingness to pay premium money to a non premium position (DE, DT, T, RB, QB). This is no knock on Berry, because I personally love watching the guy play. He is a ball hawking beast, and while people might throw around comparisons to Ed Reed [...]
Cover Somebody Sabby
A friend alerted me to this video yesterday. It has been around for 4 months, but this is the first time I have laid eyes on it, CLASSIC!
Many times throughout the year, I expressed my concern about the accuracy issues that plagued our franchise QB, “5″. I tend to be of the belief that accuracy is not a trait that is learned by NFL QB’s but something a QB either has or doesn’t have.
12 teams make the NFL playoffs. This is the list of the QB completion percentage for all 12 playoffs QB’s.

Peyton Manning – 2nd
Brett Favre – 3rd
Kurt Warner – 6th
Tom Brady – 7th
Phillip Rivers – 8th
Aaron Rodgers – 9th
Tony Romo -11th
Joe Flacco – 11th

My Conundrum
Many of you who read this, are going to be pissed off when you’re done, so if you don’t care about anyone else, than you might as well stop now.
Since I was 17 years old, I have been attending Buccaneers games practically full time. I have sat in the club section on the east side of the stadium, random sections from scalping tickets and then section 119, where my tickets currently reside. I have probably only missed 10 games or so in that span of 13 years. One of the main reasons that I left FSU and Tallahassee was that [...]
Give Van Pelt A Chance
Yesterday, the Bucs hired former Bills offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to be their QB coach. If the Bucs don’t fire him during the season or before the season even starts, I actually like the hire.
Van Pelt has been a rising name in the coaching ranks for a few seasons now. Before truly dismantling his last year with the Bills, take a look at the circumstances. First, people complain about the talent on our offensive roster, take a look at the Bills. Washed up TO, Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, ugh. Just like Greg Olson, Van Pelt was thrown into the [...]
There are almost certain to be three Buccaneers players from the last 15 years voted into the NFL’s Hall of Fame once their required time has elapsed from retirement. There have been some borderline great Bucs who may have Hall of Fame resumes, but to me, three distinct players stand out. Those same three players stood out to the same people who vote for the NFL’s Hall of Fame Selection Committee. Yesterday, before the Pro Bowl, the NFL named its All Decade Team. Ronder Barber, Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp all were distinguished with that honor. Former Head [...]
