I’ve been just so overwhelmed with joy the past few days, that I found out it hard to translate my excitement into words. Our utter disregard for the free agency period has been disappointing to say the least, but Reggie Brown made up for it. The Buccaneers moved a 6th round pick in 2011 for Brown.
I had a long conversation with a friend about the Bucs lack of effort in trying to trade for Kerry Rhodes or Anquan Boldin. He said, hes glad that we didn’t move a fourth round pick for Rhodes or a 3rd and a 4th for Boldin and a 5th, but that he doesn’t mind the 6th round pick for Brown. REALLY? His reasoning was that Morris and Dominik won’t be here regardless, and that it’s just a 6th round pick. So the fact that they know they won’t be around justifies moving future picks when they won’t be here? Trading a 4th for a proven SS is not ok, but trading a 6th round pick for a guy who had 9 catches last year is.
Brown is a solid route runner with decent hands, but lacks any real breakaway ability. Sounds a lot like Brian Clark whom we could have just tendered with a restricted free agency tender does it not? He has 27 receptions in 17 games the past two seasons. Pretty similar receiving numbers to that bum Michael Clayton.
After the season I was disenchanted. Now I’m just fed up with this garbage.
