Former South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe, who was not selected during last weekend’s NFL Draft, will accept an invite to workout in front of the Tampa Bay organization.
Grothe is in search of landing a free-agent contract with Tampa, but if the NFL doesn’t pan out for him, he can head across the border into Canada. The Canadian Football League could be the next stop for Grothe since Saskatchewan holds his rights in the league.
While at South Florida, Grothe compiled 8,669 passing yards along with 52 touchdowns. But his 2009 season was not one for the record books, as he was only healthy for three games. His draft stock certainly dropped after his injury in 2009, and with that, his NFL future lies on this one tryout with Tampa Bay.
