Thoughts on Arrelious Benn

The Bucs need Benn to step up in his rookie campaign.

Training camp is only a few days away for the Bucs and entering camp, one of the major question marks continues to be the wide receiver position. The Bucs have some question marks as they decide who will be the starters to enter the 2010 season (Hopefully Clayton won’t even be on the roster). The Bucs are looking at starting two rookie receivers on opening day. Now while this sounds crazy and probably is, it might come true unless something incredible happens in training camp, like Michael Clayton catching a pass. All of the talk about the rookie receivers has been about Mike Williams. The former Syracuse star has been impressing everyone with his physical ability and dedication. He is already proving himself to coaches before camp has even started. But where is Arrelious Benn?

Arrelious Benn, the Bucs second round pick has been absent from the news recently. No one is reporting on him or how good he looks at practice, everything seems to be around Mike Williams. Williams is an impressive receiver, but equal attention should be made about Arrelious Benn as well. Benn is a big receiver, at 6’1″ and 219 lbs. he is a big physical target that can fight for the ball and use his strength to push off a jam on the line and get open. He has a high ceiling and could have an incredible season for the Bucs. Many feel he has big time potential and will make an immediate impact for the Bucs. Now the same is being said for Williams as well, but not as much about Benn. The pressure will be on both rookies as both have a big chance to start as the Bucs continue the youth movement on the roster. Benn will have a good season, he has too much talent not to have a big year and make some highlight catches in the process. Watch for Benn and Williams to come up big for the Bucs this season (training camp should be very interesting to watch this year and monitor the progression of the rookies).
