Mario Urrutia has been cut.

The Bucs have made a few more roster moves. They have cut defensive end George Johnson and wide receiver Mario Urrutia, while signing tight end Martin Rucker and safety Vince Anderson.

Martin Rucker, the tight end from Philadelphia, is a 6’5″ target, but has only two career catches. I am not sure if the Bucs will go with four tight ends on the roster or have signed Rucker for the practice squad and create competition. Safety Vince Anderson was signed from the Giants and will compete to be the fourth safety for the Bucs as well.

The Bucs cut defensive end George Johnson, the rookie out of Rutgers. Johnson was having a good camp and could have made the Bucs roster or practice squad, but they have decided to cut his time short. The big move I believe is releasing wide receiver Mario Urrutia, the 6’6″ giant out of Louisville (he is listed as 6’6″ according to the Buccaneers website, even though many believe he is 6’9″). Urrutia is a big target that could have been a nice addition to the Bucs roster, but with the wide receiver position beginning to take shape, the Bucs opted to cut him as well.

I don’t quite understand the moves. Urrutia is 6’6, and has quite a bit of talent. They could have at least kept him on the practice squad. And how can the Buc’s possibly use Rucker? They already have Winslow and Stevens. I don’t see him making much of an impact.

These are very questionable moves by the Buc’s in my mind. I guess we’ll see how they all pan out.

Yeah the moves don’t make that much sense to me. Urrutia is a good size target and they have depth at tight end already, they will both most likely stay on the practice squad. I don’t see the Bucs having 4 tight ends on the active roster.

Hilarious! I just learned that the Bucs just released Rucker! Because he couldn’t even pass a F@#$^%@ physical! Great move Bucs! To bad they just released a skilled 6’6 giant. They might have been able to use him. Oh, well!
