Buccaneer fans have been worried about games being blacked out and now those fears are reality as the second Bucs pre-season game will be blacked out for the Bay area. If you happen to live in the Ocala or Ft. Myers area you can still watch the game.
This is the first time in 12 years that a game is being blacked out for Tampa and it happens in week 2 of the pre-season. The pre-season is not very exciting for many, but it is a bad sign for the upcoming regular season. Fans around the Bay are upset about the broadcasting decision and are trying to find out how they can catch the game (either radio or you can watch the game on a time-delay the next day, not very exciting options).
Everyone knew games were going to be blacked out this season, whether they wanted to admit it or not. With a poor performance last season, a youth movement on the team, and low ticket sales, the fans are showing they are not confident in the Bucs yet. This means that RayJay won’t be full and thus the broadcasting stations will not be covering games that have only a handful of seats filled.
It is sad to see that the Bucs games will be blacked out this season. For the fans that are not able to make it to every game and enjoy watching from home on Sunday afternoon (I can’t make it to every game, but enjoy catching it at home), it is bad news. The team was bad last season, but it has plenty of promise and many young playmakers ready to shine this season, too bad not many people will be watching from home.
