The news of Reggie Brown being released today has come and gone, and to some came as a surprise, myself included. But a roster spot was left open, and the Bucs decided to “toughen” up, and add a pretty talented, yet controversial running back, LeGarrete Blount.
The man who has made more attention for sucker punching an innocent player following a game has worked on overcoming that ugly incident this offseason, and appeared to be on good terms with Tennesee coach Jeff Fisher, which would have made you think he could have made the team. But he ended up being let go by the Titans, and to the Bucs delight, they quickly claimed him off waivers.
Blount is a talented back, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns this preseason, and will provide the Bucs with a big, physical back. Heck, if for some unknown reason a giant brawl breaks out on the field, I’d give the Bucs the advantage anyday of the week with this guy in uniform. But all jokes aside, Blount is a good pickup for Tampa.
In another side move, the Bucs released rookie punter Brent Bowden following a brutal preseason. In his replace, they signed Australian punter Chris Bryan, who spent the preseason with the Green Bay Packers.
