I am on the road, taking a little vacation (in Miami, be very jealous!), but the Buccaneers are preparing to take on the Carolina Panthers and it is time to take a quick look at the matchups. These are three key areas to watch on Sunday.
Mike Williams vs. Chris Gamble – Mike Williams had an impressive game last week against the Browns where he recorded his first career touchdown. This week he matches up with Chris Gamble, a solid starting corner back that is very physical and will jam Williams up on the line early. Will Williams be able to get off the jam and get to the sideline and use his size to win the battle? I think he will, Williams is set to break out and could have a big game here.
Carolina running game vs. Bucs front 4 – The Panthers have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, both are fast rushers, with Stewart more of the power runner. The Bucs young defensive tackles, Price and McCoy will have their hands filled with their rushing attack. Roy Miller will have to anchor the line and the defensive ends will have to get off blocks fast and try to keep Williams in front of them and keep Stewart from rushing straight up the middle.
Bucs secondary vs. Matt Moore – Matt Moore will start this game (concussion), but Clausen could come off the bench if he struggles. The Bucs secondary had a big game last week as Barber and Biggers both had an interception and now Aqib Talib (best corner they have) returns as well. Will Moore be able to spread the ball around or will the Bucs secondary be able to cover the receivers and force Moore to throw into coverage?
My prediction? It is easy to get giddy after the Bucs won the season opener, but coming back to reality, this is going to be a very tough game. With Winslow gimpy and rookie receivers (Huggins is out too) the Bucs will have a fight on their hands. Carolina was beaten by the Giants, but has a solid running game and is playing at home. I am going to go out on a limb here and continue to ride the optimism that looming over the Tampa area and take the Bucs in this win.
Final Prediction: Bucs 17 Carolina 13
Well hope everyone enjoys the game, however you are able to watch or hear it! I will be back Monday and will bring you a recap of the game and my thoughts on the Bucs performance. Enjoy your weekend everyone, I will try to enjoy mine on the Miami beaches!
