Seemingly once a week this load young Buccaneers team has a rookie nominated for Pepsi’s Rookie of the Week, Mike Williams, LeGarrette Blount and Arrelious Benn have all been nominated, but despite about 10 collective chances, none has won. This week, LeGarrette Blount and Josh Freeman are nominated for a bigger honor, the Fed Ex Air and Ground players of the week.
Unlike the rookie awards, which incidentally, Blount wasn’t nominated for this week, these awards encompass the entire NFL (not just rookies) and indicate the best passer and rusher of the past week. Blount is nominate for his 18 carry, 164 yard decimation of the Seahawks. He averaged 9.1 yards per carry, he was leaping over guys. He was nasty. Josh Freeman is nominated for the air player of the week for his 21 of 26 (81%) 237 yard, 5 touchdown passing day against Seattle. It was a lethal combination and potentially one that will be pummeling teams for the Bucs for years to come. So go vote for them for the awards. It’s not the Pro Bowl but it’s still a nice distinction and a deserved one, click the link right below.
