I’m not sure if Barrett Ruud turned you guys down for a date or if you just have penis envy, but you’ll are crazy. Ruud is your best defensive player next to an aging Barber. The Tampa System is what limits the middle linebacker play. The first step is back and not forward. It’s zone coverage over, blitz. Etc. Insert anyone into that role and I guarantee that they are less productive then Ruud and you guys will be knocking his balls the same way. I hope Ruud doesn’t sign with Tampa. You guys don’t deserve a player of that caliber. Furthermore, (RE: Ray Lewis and Clay Matthews) are entirely different kinds of linebackers, in entirely different schemes. You can’t compare the two. Sure if you want to change the Tampa defense and go to a 3-4 with bigger linebackers, or a MLB who plays the run solid, with solid support that fits the scheme, then dump Ruud and get an upgrade in that scheme. That absolutely makes sense. However, for the system I don’t think you’ll find a better player. Ruud is not a finesse player. That guy made some of the biggest aggressive, hits at The University of Nebraska. I would know. I’m an Oklahoma guy. If I’m not mistaken I believe he is the school’s all time leading tackler. What have any of you ever done?

Thanks guys, I thought that an article bashing Ruud would be risky for one of my first. Guys like Hayward, Watson, McKenzie are all more athletic; they also have something to prove I say draft a MLB and see what we have in house.

you make some very strong points man. i like ruud and all….but if he’s as good as the contract he wants, why cant he play out cover 2 defense as well as urlacher does?
