I can’t stress enough how dull the last few days have been in the NFL, aside from the usual labor squabbling and the human interest piece here or there, very little has been happening. That’s fine for me, I’ve been quite busy myself, but for football fans it’s been a little bit of a letdown.
We should be in the middle of rookie camps, minicamps and OTA’s but instead things are stagnant. Hopefully today we’ll receive some kind of news on the Aqib Talib case, his lawyer was due before a court in Dallas today to discuss his trial, Talib is not required to be present. Most likely this is just a docket hearing to set the timetable for the trial to proceed, it’s unlikely anything substantial happens today but you can never rule anything out.
The NFL and NFLPA have also been holding clandestine meetings in Chicago. Apparently the two sides have been meeting away from the courts in St. Louis and Minneapolis though I doubt much happens in the next few days. Most of the “experts” don’t think anything gets done until July. Apparently Cris Collinsworth thinks there will be half a season at best. Is anyone else irritated?
