The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reporting to training camp this morning, and though practice doesn’t begin until tomorrow morning, you can get a sense that the Buccaneers are eager for things to get going. Right now. If you make your way on to Twitter you can find just about every Buccaneer raving about being back, talking about who slimmed down, what guy got what number and how excited they are to kick this season off.
But this is the easy part of camp. The grinding begins tomorrow, the work starts in earnest tomorrow. Right now the Buccaneers have nearly 90 men vying for just 53 rosters spots and only a limited amount of time in which to evaluate them. Rookies don’t have the benefit of a rookie camp to distinguish themselves before the vets come in, there was no previous offensive or defensive install.
Everything basically starts from zero tomorrow morning when the Bucs take the field for their first practice. From there it’s just a little over a month until the Bucs square off with Detroit in the season-opener. The Bucs have opened training camp and now it’s time to get to work.
