While most teams decided not to play many of their starters for the first preseason game, Tampa Bay on the other hand played quite a few of theirs. With the lack of practices due to the length of the lock out i think giving the starters a chance to get back into the groove of things early was a good idea. Josh Freeman looked very good passing the ball around and showed quick feet on his scoring run. The offence controled the game out the gates putting together drives that led to points. Briscoe showed good hands while running good routs. The Bucs look pretty good at receiver. I think the Bucs have one of the more bigger, faster receiving core in the NFL. It was good to get Freeman and his young but talented receivers comfortable with each other early.
The defence came in with lots of fire and attitude. The young guys were running around all over the place. You could tell these guys been waiting for this moment to prove the doubters wrong. Even though it was only the first preseason game against mosty backups the Bucs showed they were ready to compete. The one thing that stood out to me the most was the speed of our defence. The defence looked hungrey and ready to make a play. If we can keep up that same aggression through the regular season Tampa bay will be tough against any team.
