Even though it was just the second preseason game the Bucs must step it up to compete against the elite teams. The Patriots routed the Bucs on thrusday leaving Tampa players wondering what hit them. Clearly from the start Brady and his bunch wanted to make a statement and they did showing the Bucs and the rest of the NFL they were in mid-season form.
Tampa looked lost and confused. Defensively they couldn’t stop the run or the pass. Brady made it look easy hitting recievers on point while moving around in the pocket with little or no pressure. New England’s running game looked just as good. Their tailbacks were hitting the wide open holes hard and gaining plus yards on almost every carry. Tampa must get better on defense if they plan on making a run for the playoffs.
The offense didn’t do much better either. The first team struggled to move the ball down the field only gaining a yard on the ground in the first quater while NE had over a hundred in the first. Freeman had no time to pass the ball he was under pressure the whole time he was under center. The O-line and the D-line need some work if they are going to control a game like the elite teams do. Tampa struggled last season against elite teams and thats one of the main reasons why they didn’t make the playoffs. The Bucs must step their game up to compete with the best in the NFL and i believe after thrusday’s wake up call Morris and company will get to the bottom of the problems.
