The Buccaneers collapse has certainly gotten no shortage of attention. There was a point when this team sat at 4-2 with a great chance to make a run at the playoffs. Six games later they’re 4-8 and planning vacations for themselves in January.
A lot’s gone wrong but it hasn’t been any one thing specifically that tanked this season, it’s been a conglomeration of factors that have lead to this collapse. Rather than write one very long post dealing with them all, I figured it would be a little easier to break the factors up and go through them one by one.
So starting with the lack of an offseason and moving through inept play-calling and a lack of leadership, we’ll work through them all. Then, Josh and I will wrap everything up with a special edition of the Pewter Plank Podcast, ‘Breaking Down the Breakdown.’ This season isn’t necessarily lost, but it is over and it’s time to look at why, in addition to what the Bucs can accomplish over the last four weeks of the season… Stay tuned.
