The Market is open! NFL Free Agency starts today and the floodgates are open for teams trying to add that championship piece to put them over the top and finished 2012 with more then they started with.
The Buccaneers need a lot of things to be considered in that category, and they have money to spend. The team has been completely retooled in terms of who will be guiding the ship. Greg Schiano is entering his first free agency market as an NFL head coach and how he handles the talent out there will be telling of how he will run the team.
Offensive line, cornerback and wide receiver are all areas the Bucs can be improved. Running back, linebacker and safety all need upgrades or compliments as well.
As the market rings the opening bell, it’s still a mystery where the Bucs will go and what they’re thinking. Bucs fans would like to imagine them salivating at the chance to reach into their deep pockets and get big time play makers. But the Glazers may very well be planning to play it conservative this year and, like last, remain largely in house with the signings.
That isn’t a good strategy at all seeing as most of the guys with expiring contracts did absolutely nothing to warrant a renewal. If the Glazers simply re-sign talent (and with most of the guys that word is used in the loosest of senses), then the proper direction for next season will not have been set but the mood of the Glazers towards winning will be known.
