Da’Quan Bowers Tears Achilles, Likely Done for Season

He fell in the draft to the Buccaneers in the second round of last years draft due to injuries and Tampa has seen why teams passed on him. After having a nagging knee problem, Bowers tore his a chillies tendon in a workout and will likely be done for the season.

Bowers has shown promising flashes but this latest injury causing a derailment in his NFL career isn't a new concept.

Bowers previous injury was to his left knee but the tear comes to his rich Achilles tendon.

There is still some hope that Bowers could return later in the year but the fact that this is the second major injury he has had that has derailed his hopes to be an elite defensive end means that a return in 2012 won’t happen. At least it shouldn’t happen as rushing Bowers back could do more long term damage than short term good.

It’s a sad case though. Bowers was once hailed as a top 5 draft pick but his injury prone college career sank him to the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He has barely played with the Buccaneers but he’s showed flashes — or teases if you will– of brilliance on a defensive line that needs massive improvements.

Bowers loss if not only the next in line of personal sports losses for myself (please see: Derrick Rose), but it’s not going to help out a Bucs team that is moving forward. This injury coming at a time of change is going to leave someone behind and for Bowers sake lets really hope it’s not him.
