Last week Aqib Talib had a brutally disgusting week defending the pass against the New York Giants and he was blasted for his performance.
Talib must have been listening to the critics because he’s come out blazing Week 3 against the Cowboys, and grabbed an interception off of Tony Romo early in the first quarter.
Dez Bryant in Talib’s assignment this week and so far, Romo has had to look the way of other targets thus far as Talib has been relatively shut down against Bryant. The highlight of Talib’s day came in the first when he picked off Tony Romo and helped set up the Bucs first score of the game.
I blasted Talib pretty badly last week because I expect better from him and this week, he’s showing me what I want to see and what I expect. Talib is an elite, shutdown cornerback and when he plays as such, the Bucs benefit on both sides of the ball. It’s because of Talib and the secondary that the Bucs can remain in this game, but they need to keep that up if Tampa wants to win this ballgame.
Mistakes can’t happen and so far they really haven’t happened on defense. In fact it’s been the defense that’s been holding this game together.
