Josh Freeman rebounded after throwing an interception on the Bucs first drive, by erasing a 62 yard punt and throwing a huge touchdown to Mike Williams.
Really, Williams deserves 90 percent of the credit as it was another bad throw by Freeman. It wasn’t a terrible throw but it wasn’t perfect by any means, yet Williams was not only able to reel it in but stifle two Chiefs defenders the whole way to the endzone.
It’s been a rough day for Freeman so far who still looks uncomfortable. And when he looks omfortable, he’s making silly and stupid mistakes like throwing an out route despite not looking for the flat defender. That’s how Freeman’s first trip to the redzone ended and the Bucs haven’t been back yet.
That’s an issue with this team, as it seems they either hit home runs or they let Connor Barth do their dirty work. Tampa has made just 8 trips to the redone through six weeks of the season. Tampa has used Doug Martin very heavily early on, but still the only highlight of the game outside of turnovers for either side has been the 62-yard catch and run by Williams.
No doubt, Bucs fans will take the home runs, but that’s not how football teams win. The quick drives ending in punts or field goals can’t continue as this is how the defense has been worn out the first 5 games of the season for Tampa.
