If you haven’t heard of Doug Martin at this point, you’re going to hear plenty about him after his performance on Sunday. Martin has gone well over 200 yards rushing and has three scores on the day in his California homecoming.

Martin, who grew up in the Bay area, went off against the Raiders marking his second straight 100-plus yard performance in a row after exploding against the Minnesota Vikings last Thursday.

This week Martin was all over the place and it seemed whenever he got the ball, he took it to the house.

The Bucs defense didnt’ get any time ti breathe either, because Martin was so often putting it into the endzone on huge runs that they could barely sit down before he put it in the endzone again.

Martin has officially arrived on the scene and even without Carl Nicks, his All-Pro guard, the rookie is well within striking distance of Adrian Peterson’s 2007 NFL single game rushing record of 296 yards. The comparisons between Peterson and Martin started last week, but for those who laughed at the comparisons bewteen Martin and former Greg Schiano back Ray Rice look foolish for doing so right now.

Martin may not go off like this every week, but holy cow he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
