2013 NFL Mock Draft: Pre-Super Bowl Edition

The Super Bowl is two weeks away, and while we know who’s going to be playing in the Harbaugh Bowl, the Buccaneers have little to no stake in the matter. What they do have a massive stake in is their own future and one way to ensure it’s a bright one is to focus on the NFL Draft.

It’s an impressive class this year, with a record number of underclassman declaring. Tampa Bay ended up with the 13th pick and while we’ll have plenty of coverage of the Bucs here at The Pewter Plank, it’s always fun to take a look at the board as a whole.

RIDICULOUS!!! To draft Safetys in the first round in two consequitive drafts is borderline INSANITY. IMO, besides QB, safety is a position that experience is very important. To have TWO very inexperienced safetys in an already horrible secondary is recipe for disaster. It could take 2 to 3 years for these two guys to get up to speed.
How much impact did Barron have on our secondary? And he’s is/was a much better prospect than Vaccaro. IMO, we need a few vet guys in the secondary…a FA safety would be much better than having, possibly 4 or 5 rookies or second year players starting in the secondary.

Who do you sign? Honest question. It’s not just that easy to simply sign someone. Especially to get a “few” vets. Consider the other options and you may find Vaccaro is among the best options this offseason.

    • Josh Hill

There’s really not anyone out there to sign, and how do you think those safeties got experience in the first place? This team is a year out from being a true force, and once it is, a young roster ensures the Bucs will be good for a long time. If Milliner’s gone, there’s really not a better option other than trading down to stock pile picks and taking Alec Ogletree.

Dave, don’t wanna make it seem like we were just ganging up on you. Just wanted to give our takes in response. Feel free to fight back, we wanna hear what you have to say.
