UPDATE: 10:06 PM Pro Football talk has shut down the rumor reported here, claiming that Wednesday would be the earliest we could learn of a deal being done. The lack of sources beyond Booger McFarland caused me to have my doubts. But it was good enough to post to a fairly well read website, so it was worth reporting.
It’s worth noting that Florio’s timeline from PFT lines up with Rick Stroud’s, and those are two sources that are very reliable.
We’ll bring you more when it’s available. But we’ll likely know a lot more on Wednesday.
According to local radio host and former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Anthony “Booger” McFarland, the Bucs have reached a preliminary deal with Dashon Goldson to join the team. No details are known at this time. It is also unclear as to where McFarland gathered this information, as no other media outlets are reporting the deal is completely.
Goldson has been active on Twitter and Instagram this evening, not confirming anything but rather Instagramming a photo of the private jet the Buccaneers sent to pick him up, and quoting Young Jeezy in the process. But there has been no confirmation from the player that a deal has been reached.
This rumor definitely lines up with a tweet from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times confirming that Goldson would sign a long term deal and it would be announced Wednesday. But is there anything more substantial at this point? Until other media outlets start confirming a deal is in place, it’s very difficult to know for sure.
We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on new details in this situation. But as for now, enjoy this frustrating yet surprisingly hopeful bit of information:
The only team who hasn’t signed, re-signed, cut, or lost someone today is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
