Zac Snyder, editor of our sister site “SideLion Report” on the Fansided Network, posted an article this evening about the Lions considering adding a throwback jersey to the mix for the upcoming season. NFL rules stipulate teams can only wear three jerseys over the course of a season, so the Lions (and Buccaneers) must decide between a modern alternate and a throwback jersey as the third jersey in the rotation. The Buccaneers have settled on having a throwback jersey, wearing the creamsicle orange jerseys on occasion over the past few years. The Lions seem to be uncertain, and Zac proposes that the Lions break out their throwback jerseys in an interesting way:
That leaves just one more possibility and by far my favorite: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their creamsicle orange jerseys. While the clean look of the old time blue and silver has been a popular throwback look, part of me really wants to see a Thanksgiving game between the Lions and Bucs with both teams wearing their threads from the early 90s. Is there a better way to honor the newly retired Jason Hanson than with an old school NFC Central game between the Lions and Bucs? I think not.
An homage to the 90′s, when the Buccaneers were in a dark age, and the Lions were proud owners of one of the best running backs in NFL history. A tribute to the time the teams spent together in the NFC North, the “black and blue” division. And a nice combination of old school jerseys that would look good on national TV on Thanksgiving day.
So what do you think, Buccaneers’ fans? Would you want to play the Lions on Thanksgiving? If so, would you like to see both teams wearing old school uniforms? Let us know in the poll:
