Welcome to the first regular edition of Pewter and Read, a quick look around the web at the stories and opinions you can find about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and some other interesting topics around the NFL. We’ll bring you a quick recap of what we think about the latest news and gossip, and give you direct link to check out the articles for yourself. So without any further introduction:
- Pro Football Focus released their article about the Buccaneers’ “Secret Superstar” as we head into the 2013 season. They name Leonard Johnson as a player who could breakout, which is an opinion I shared on this very website not so long ago. Johnson has more experience than Johnthan Banks, and has more of a future than Eric Wright, which means he may get more of a shot at serious playing time than most people are giving him a chance to earn. I think he’s going to be a fantastic role player for the Buccaneers and I look forward to watching him develop.
- J.J. Rodriguez over at Bleacher Report dropped this article about the Buccaneers’ attendance in 2013, asking if the Bucs’ fanbase would buy in to the improved product the front office is putting on the field. I am inclined to believe they will, as the team has excellent facilities for football, and attendance concerns were focused on a perceived lack of talent and commitment from the front office and ownership. But check out the article and sound off on your thoughts on the issue.
- Pewter Report provided further reports from Bucs’ mini-camp, and had some interesting observations about Josh Freeman’s leadership and accuracy, Doug Martin’s role, and some of the Buccaneers who we may see getting after the quarterback in the upcoming season.
- NFL.com has an article up now about the new Madden game, set to his shelves this fall. I am really excited for the revamped technology in Madden, and plan to get the game as soon as it’s out and testing out the virtual Buccaneers. But I will also want to check out RGIII’s dreads, which apparently look quite epic on the next generation of video game consoles, which will be the focus of hardcore gamers this holiday season.
So to close, I ask you, Pewter Plank faithful… do you care about the newly announced video game consoles set to release at the end of this year? If so, do you think you’ll be going with PS4 or XBOX One? Comment and let us know your thoughts!
