Time for a Friday night edition of Pewter and Read…
- The Buccaneers are now home to the most famous duo in all of the superhero universe. Darrelle Revis told reporters that he felt that Dashon Goldson was “Batman” and that he was “Robin.” He praised his new defensive backfield comrade and his ability, claiming that he was the best safety in the league. Check out JoeBucsFan’s take on the quote here.
- We’ve already had Leo and Ken chime in on Josh Freeman’s quote from today, but get the slightly more unbiased opinion of NFL.com by clicking here. Also on this page is a great video where some NFL Network “experts” talk about their expectations for the Buccaneers. (No one thinks they’re going to make the playoffs, for what it’s worth.)
- It’s not all negative, tho. The Buccaneers were one of the teams featured on an NFL Network article featuring the most improved position groups in the league. Obviously it’s the Bucs’ defensive backfield which is given the spotlight, and they get top billing as possibly the most improved group in the NFL. I can’t disagree.
- Gerald McCoy has lost some weight heading into the 2013 season. A local paper in Oklahoma has an article online stating that the Bucs’ Pro Bowl defender has shed some pounds and is on the verge of getting married, so he’ll certainly be a different man when he shows up for camp later this year. Let’s hope a lighter McCoy is a better McCoy, and that a reduction in weight means a more dynamic version of the Bucs’ defensive tackle, to play off of the strength and size of Akeem Spence.
That’s it for this Friday Night edition of Pewter and Read. Have a great weekend!
