Pewter and Read: Weekend Edition, June 23rd, 2013

Another weekend comes to a close, so we have another weekend edition of Pewter and Read to get you caught up on what people around the web are saying about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • A staple of the Pewter and Read, we focus on SR’s Fab Five from the Pewter Report. This is required weekly reading, folks. There is lots of great insight this week into the mindset of the coaching staff as it relates to Josh Freeman, who is clearly viewed as the starting quarterback. There’s also some great insight as to the mental aspect of The Hawk, as Dashon Goldson continues to make an impact in the meeting room as well as on the field.
  • We stick with Scott Reynolds as we take a look ahead and see who the Bucs might lose next offseason. He put together a list of all the free-agents-to-be in Tampa Bay, and to be honest, the list doesn’t scare me all that much. Josh Freeman and Mike Williams stand out as key players, and there are a few strong role players, but the franchise won’t fall apart if the Bucs are forced to pay out the ears to bring Freeman back. But give us your take on which players from the list would be most missed heading into 2014.
  • Over at Bleacher Report, Travis Wakeman has a smart article about some under-the-radar players who may make the roster for the Buccaneers. The most intriguing option is Tim Wright, a converted wide receiver who is working on becoming a dynamic pass catcher at tight end. This is obviously something the Buccaneers can use, so it will be interesting to see if the Rutgers product can crack the roster.
  • And finally, over at Bleacher Report, we find the kind of fun article needed to get through an offseason. There’s nothing in-depth about this article, but it’s a good use of a few minutes. It’s a list of the best player wearing each jersey number in the NFL. Sounds cool, right? Check it out, and find the Buccaneers included in the list.

That’s it for another week of Pewter and Read!
