Pewter and Read: Buccaneers News and Opinions from Around the Web, July 3rd, 2013

It has been a really slow news day, but these are the interesting stories we managed to find for today…

  • We first turn our attention to Pete Prisco at CBS Sports, who has some thoughts on the Buccaneers. Prisco never fails to deliver specualtion and opinion, so if you want an honest take on the team heading into next season, check it out. It’s strange that his favorite player the Buccaneers added this offseason seems to be Akeem Spence, but if his comparison for Spence is right, I think the Buccaneers had the steal of the draft.
  • Greg Schiano is very confident that Darrelle Revis will be ready for week one. There has been a lot of talk about his readiness for the season, and while the team has failed to promise anything, it’s good to keep expectations a bit lower in case there’s any setbacks in recovery. All indications are that Revis is recovering well, and Coach Schiano would gamble that he’ll be ready for week one.
  • Over at Bucs Nation, JCDeLaTorre has this article about the Buccaneers recent woes at home, and how that must change for them to challenge in 2013. I think the Buccaneers have to perform at home to get the fans back on board, and to take advantage of the friendly confines to get much-needed wins for a playoff run.
  • And at the Buccaneers’ official website, check out this awesome video about the experiencethat Vincent Jackson and Davin Joseph had on a USO tour overseas with the members of the military. Well worth a watch.

That’s it for this today’s Pewter and Read. Join us again tomorrow for more.
