We all make mistakes. Here at the Pewter Plank, we believed that Mike Williams was ranting about the team’s handling of his contract negotiations on Twitter, and personally I did not care for his perceived antics.
Turns out I was the one who was wrong.
Williams updated his Twitter today in typical Mike Williams fashion, with a long block of text shedding light on his situation, and what he’s been ranting about:
Stop assuming people! pic.twitter.com/F4JfABaO6b
— * Mike Williams * (@Mikebuc19) July 13, 2013
Should Williams delete the tweet, or should you not find a way to access the image, Mike explains that he is venting frustrations about a situation with a female, and that is doesn’t have to do with football. He also stabs right to the heart for myself and others who assumed he was talking about his contract situation by referring to the old cliché “Remember what “assume” makes…”
I certainly want to apologize to Mike, and express a bit of relief that Mike is not taking to Twitter to bash the organization that has given him a chance to play football. There have been no updates on his contract situation as of late, but the word all along is that something would be done before training camp.
At this point, all we can do is wait for pen to hit paper. But in the mean time, I will stay away from Mike’s Twitter account while he deals with some apparent “baby momma drama.” The offseason is a long and boring time for NFL fans, but I will spare the audience the frustration of any more speculative nonsense from the world of Twitter.
