Tuesday is almost over, but we’re not done until we share what we’re reading today. Here’s the Pewter and Read:

  • Greg Schiano seems to be spending a good amount of time talking to, and talking about, defensive end Da’Quan Bowers. The Buccaneers need Bowers to be impressive on a regular basis, as they know he has the ability to be a solid NFL defensive lineman. He just lacks a consistent history since entering the league, and that’s not going to cut it in this crucial 2013 campaign. Get caught up on the situation here thanks to Pro Football Talk.
  • Dave Wannstedt has been added to the Buccaneers’ coaching staff, and he’s going to bring more than just advice for the special teams. Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune has this article about the experience and input Coach Wannstedt will bring to Tampa Bay.
  • Also from the Tribune, Roy Cummings has this article about Luke Stocker, who is looking to be more consistent now that he has a chance in 2013 to step up and become a starter. He has been a disappointment thus far in his career, and his 2013 offseason has been marred by an injury. He has a lot left to prove.
  • And finally in sad former Bucs news, Arrelious Benn has torn his ACL in Eagles’ camp and will miss this season. He had a chance in Philly with the loss of Jeremy Maclin and the drama around Riley Cooper, but he’ll now miss out due to yet another injury.

That’s it for today. Join us again tomorrow for more.
