Welcome to a Pewter and Read for the day before the first Buccaneers’ game of the season! Today we’ll bring you some unique takes from some sources we don’t often cite. Let’s get started.

  • First up we have the Bradenton Herald, where writer Alan Dell has an article about the Bucs’ need for Da’Quan Bowers to step up to ensure the defense continues to improve. Needless to say, Bowers needs to live up to his expectations coming out of college to ensure the Buccaneers have the pass rush they need to be a playoff contender in 2013.
  • Next is an article from Ravens’ insider Aaron Wilson, who wrote this piece for the Baltimore Sun about the Ravens’ desire to take to the field in a real game following their Super Bowl triumph. He also has some news and notes about the team ahead of tomorrow’s game, so be sure to check it out and get the information on the Bucs’ opponents.
  • Justin Pawlowski of 98.7 the Fan in Tampa had this to say about the Buccaneers’ first preseason game of the season. “The Commish” gives his thoughts on what to expect from the preseason opener, including thoughts on the running backs, wide receivers, and more. Give it a click.
  • And if you wanted more updates on Darrelle Revis, check out this AP article found on Yahoo.com. You won’t see him on the field tomorrow, but he’s progressing well, and it will be great to see him back at full speed closer to the start of the season.

That’s it for today. Join us tomorrow as we tweet live from Raymond James Stadium, and give you a recap of all the action.
