There did not appear to be any major injuries for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during their 2013 preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens, but we did learn today that a couple of Buccaneers will miss a decent chunk of time due to injuries.
Tom Krasniqi of 620 WDAE in Tampa tweeted this from the press conference at One Buc Place following Saturday’s practice:
Schiano says WR Chris Owusu (ankle) & CB Danny Gorrer (groin) will miss about a week. RB Peyton Hillis (leg) should return sooner #Bucs

Gorrer was a revelation during the Thursday evening game, making two excellent plays in coverage against Jacoby Jones before exiting with his injury. He will be a key member of the Buccaneers’ defensive back rotation in 2013, so his return to health is very important.
The news is much worse for Owusu, who needed to get back on the practice field to redeem himself after a disappointing performance in the first exhibition of the season. He injured himself on a deep catch against one-on-one coverage, and would not return. He needs to show that he’s capable on more sorts of routes, and prove that he has reliable hands before his roster spot is secured.
The injury to Hillis appeared to be the worst at the time, but it appears he’s going to heal quickly. Hillis ran hard on the few opportunities he received, and was falsely charged with a fumble that was recovered by the Buccaneers anyways. It’s good to hear he’ll be back soon, as Mike James and Mike Smith failed to stand out during the Thursday matchup.
