Carl Nicks and Brian Leonard Will Not Play Tonight For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Any hopes that Carl Nicks would get his first test of his surgically repaired foot on Friday evening for the Buccaneers must be set aside, as it has been reported the Bucs’ All Pro guard will be sidelined for the evening.

But the news might not be all bad.

The third preseason game is the “starter’s game”, so it’s smart to save him for next week, and allow him to work alongside his fellow starters as much as possible.

Another note, and one that has come out of nowhere, is that Brian Leonard will also not be playing for the Buccaneers against the Patriots. Here’s and NFL Network’s Albert Breer with the tweet to confirm.

But there’s not all bad news on the injury front, as joint practice standout Adrian Clayborn will suit up for the Bucs.

Hopefully Clayborn’s presence will inspire better overall play from the defensive line this evening, and especially from Da’Quan Bowers, who has been a disappointment this offseason.

The Buccaneers and Patriots kick off at 8 o’clock Eastern Time on FOX.
