The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not get a chance to see their two of their best players for the “dress rehearsal” third preseason game on Saturday evening, as both running back Doug Martin and cornerback Darrelle Revis will sit out the game against the Miami Dolphins.
Hearing now that neither RB Doug Martin nor CB Darrelle Revis will play for the Bucs tonight. Makes sense both ways if you ask me

Martin left last week’s preseason game early after taking a hard hit to the head, and while he reportedly avoided a concussion, the Buccaneers clearly saw their offensive life flash before their eyes, and decided to hold Martin back from this game and allow the running backs battling for roster spots to have the spotlight.
For Revis, this should not come as a surprise. The general feeling from One Buc Place about Revis has been “He’ll play when he wants,” with an emphasis on sticking to the plans they have for him, which clearly involve as many as six years in Tampa Bay. One preseason game is not worth hurrying their plan at all, even if he’s doing better than expected.
This news will give Johnthan Banks, Leonard Johnson, Brian Leonard and Mike James bigger opportunities, which will be important to make sure the Buccaneers have adequate depth heading into 2013. It’s disappointing to not see two of the Bucs’ biggest stars, but there is certainly a good amount of logic behind each decision.
