Report: Jeff Demps Reporting To Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday

On the same day that the nightmare of losing to the Jets came true, the dream of an electric return man might be right around the corner. PewterReport.com says Jeff Demps will report to the Buccaneers today as they prepare for now even bigger Week 2 matchup with the Saints.

Jeff Demps is a former Florida Gator who has been away from football for the past few months to run track at the Olympic level. Demps was an incredibly dangerous return man during his time in Gainesville, but his first stint in the NFL didn’t go over so well with the New Engladn Patriots.

Demps will compete with Eric Page to get some time on the field as a punt or kicker returner.

The Buccaneers franchise has never had that game-changing return man. They certainly don’t seem to have it with Page, so Demps should be a welcome site. It’s not that Page is a poor return man, but Demps represents a possible star in the making. It’s unlikely because Demps has been out of football for a while and had no impact while on New England. But the Buccaneers have held a place for Demps since training camp opened so they clearly believe they might have something there.

Normally, I wouldn’t care in the least about this, but we all need a little positive news, maybe Jeff Demps will provide it for us.
