The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 0-2 on the season after Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints, 16-14, and now sit tied for last in the NFC South with the Carolina Panthers, who also dropped to 0-2 after a last second loss to the Buffalo Bills, 24-23.
The Atlanta Falcons moved to 1-1 after they beat the St. Louis Rams 31-24 at home. The Saints are 2-0 after their win over the Bucs.
NFC South Standings after Week 2:
1. New Orleans Saints – 2-0
2. Atlanta Falcons – 1-1
3. Carolina Panthers – 0-2
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 0-2
In Week 3, the Bucs travel to Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots (2-0), while the Saints host the Arizona Cardinals (1-1).
The Panthers host the New York Giants (0-2), while the Falcons are in Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins (2-0).
Week 3 Schedule (all times Eastern):
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New England Patriots – 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22nd
Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints – 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22nd
New York Giants @ Carolina Panthers – 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22nd
Atlanta Falcons @ Miami Dolphins – 4:05 p.m., Sunday, September 22nd
Both the Bucs and Panthers are in dire need of a win but both face tough opponents in Week 3 and it wouldn’t be surprising if both teams come out of Week 3, 0-3.
The Falcons will fancy themselves against the surprising Dolphins, but the Fins are for real this year and have the added bonus of home turf this week.
The Saints will likely keep their NFC South lead, but the Cardinals are so inconsistent, that they could pull off a surprise win or be blown out. One thing’s for certain though: once Week 3 is finished we’ll start to see how the division is really shaping up.
